Studio Policy:
Please give 24 hours advanced notice when able but do not bring a sick child with a fever to a lesson.
If I miss a lesson, I will make up the lesson at a time when it is mutually convenient. I take extra precautions to make certain my students remain healthy and I greatly appreciate the wonderful parental support regarding the hand washing policy. Thank you!
Most instrumental teachers require an annual contract. I do not.... However, if you wish to cease lessons for any reason, apart from financial hardship,I ask that you give 30 days notice or pay the next month's tuition.
Arrival Time:
Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes ahead of your scheduled lesson unless you have called an hour in advance to see if I can change my schedule. If you arrive late, I will teach the remaining time left for your lesson. Parents may sit quietly in the family room or run errands. Parents are responsible for the safety of their children outside the room where I teach. My house and yard are not “baby proofed.”
*Other Payment Arrangements / Financial Hardship:
For families undergoing financial hardship please contact me to discuss payment arrangements. I understand that there are times when families have someone out or work or there is an illness. Don't be embarrassed to let me know so we can work together as a team.
Holidays:
(Monthly Fees adjusted for these holidays except for students who are in a buddy lesson. Those lessons are already at a huge discount. Students in a buddy lesson have a flat tuition rate and there are no make up lessons or adjustments for holidays or vacations.)
Thanksgiving: No lessons on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving week.
Christmas and New Year’s: No lessons the week of Christmas or the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Lessons resume as normal January 2nd.
July 4th No lessons on this day. Other lessons that week remain as scheduled.
Memorial Day and Labor Day This is an excused holiday if you wish. Other lessons that week remain as scheduled.
Spring Break:
I try to allow some flexibility with students regarding Spring Break, realizing that I’m dealing with students in different counties (and even different countries) and public, private and home schools. Please let me know at the beginning of the month which week your child is scheduled for Spring Break and that week there will be no payment due for that lesson if you wish to have that week off. Some students use this week as a week to get in extra practice and attend lessons. Some even request an extra lesson (available when schedule and time permits).
Summer Vacations:
In June, July, and August, students with 30 minutes lessons whose lessons are not extended because of a Buddy lesson, are allowed a total of 2 weeks excused absences from lessons, when those absences are scheduled with at least a week’s advanced notice. The excused absences will be deducted from the monthly tuition. (For 30 minute students, vacation absences do not count against make up lessons that are allowed once every three months for sickness and family emergencies.)
As stated on the fees and tuition page, there are no make up lessons for 45 minute students. Students who receive a longer lesson because of Buddy lessons are already given extra lesson time at no extra charge for their weekly lessons. Buddy lessons require a lot of planning and organization on my part and I do this at no extra charge. It is a big savings for families who are involved in this program. Because of this extra work, students who receive this added benefit, pay a flat monthly tuition whether they attend lessons or not....
This summer I'm offering a camp for composing and Noteflight training. Those students who qualify can do a comprehensive music camp as a substitution for some of their weekly lessons. If interested, please coordinate dates with me so that I can work with other families when setting up the schedule.
Contact Information:
You may phone or text my cell phone at 478-444-8158. If I am teaching, I never answer the phone or check text messages when I am with a student. I do a quick check of text messages between lessons if there is a sudden emergency and you need to contact me. Do not assume you have communicated with me unless I reply to you. (If I get your message, I WILL REPLY.) Please understand that if I am in the middle of a lesson with another student, I will not answer any phone, e mail or text. I will repond to you between lessons and before and after the start of lessons each day. When I am teaching, that time is precious with that student and it is their time set aside for my undivided attention.
If I have to miss a lesson I will communicate with you based on your preferred contact method. Please keep your contact information updated and reply to me so we both know communication is completed. I must have a reliable way to contact you.
